The Pestana Group reports that on Friday morning a fire broke out on the island of Bazaruto, which fortunately didn’t cause any casualties, but affected some of the hotel’s rooms, which had been closed off and were undergoing renovation.

We appreciate the extraordinary work carried out by our on-site team and the prompt help received from the resident community who managed to prevent the fire from spreading. We would also like to thank everyone for the visits and messages of support we received from… a number of institutions and the Government.

We are taking stock of the affected facilities, and we are drawing up a plan to rebuild these bungalows/rooms and reopen the hotel. The Pestana Bazaruto started renovating the Lodge a few months ago and had started building and selling the houses as part of a residential time-sharing project, following the success of Phase 1, which sold out. The completion date of this remains unchanged and is scheduled for December 2018.
