With this objective, PHG hopes to reduce at least 50% of non-reusable plastic by 2020, which translates into at least eight million plastic items.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One of the initiatives being taken by PHG is the removal of plastic straws and in substitution introducing an ecological paper option. This measure will amount to the reduction of 1.5 million plastic straws per year and is already successfully being adopted in Hotels in the cities of Lisbon, Cascais, Sintra in Portugal and abroad in the cities of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another measure adopted is the replacement of disposable plastic cups for reusable cups or paper cups. In this case PHG hopes to reduce 5 million units per year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the hotels\u2019 rooms, two additional measures are being implemented to \u201cSaying No To Plastic\u201d, namely the placing of liquid soap, shower gel and shampoo dispensers in the bathrooms, in substitution of the usual small bottle options.
