DION\u00cdSIO PESTANA –\u00a0<\/strong>RECEIVES VASCO DA GAMA EXCELLENCE AWARD <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Pestana Hotel Group Chairman, Dion\u00edsio Pestana, has just been honoured in this year’s Vasco da Gama Excellence Awards. The awards presented by the Hispano-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce recognise the excellence achieved by companies and individuals that have made a major strategic and economic contribution to the Iberian market and to developing relations between Portugal and Spain.<\/p>\n

Dion\u00edsio Pestana commented: \u201cWe are very proud of this award, which is a result of the Group’s continued commitment to growth in the Iberian peninsula, particularly as we prepare to open the first two hotels in Madrid, with strong brands in terms of both quality and notoriety: Pestana Collection Hotels<\/em> and Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotels, <\/em>which we are confident will add value to the city\u2019s hotel industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pestana Hotel Group is expected to open two new hotels in Madrid. At Plaza Mayor, the new Pestana hotel has resulted from a renovation of the historic Casa de la Carnicer\u00eda<\/em> building, which is over 400 years old and has had Cultural Interest status since 1985. The property\u2019s restoration and renovation project respects the architectural values of the space and pays homage to one of the ex-libris<\/em> of Madrid\u2019s historical centre. The hotel, consisting of 87 rooms, is the result of a \u20ac11 million investment. The second hotel to open its doors in the Spanish capital will be the third Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotel – the Pestana CR7 Madrid – which will receive a \u20ac14 million investment. The forthcoming 168-room hotel is located on the Gran V\u00eda, in the same building as the famous Spanish Casa del Libro<\/em> bookshop.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the Hotel Group has been present in Spain since 2013, the year it opened the Pestana Arena Barcelona. Recently, the Hotel Group announced a global investment of \u20ac200 million in the most ambitious expansion plan ever, involving 20 new hotel openings over the next 3 years, exceeding the symbolic figure of 15,000 rooms by the year 2020.<\/p>\n
